10 Vampire Movies for November 2025

Hey folks, thanks for stopping in to read 10 Vampire Movies for November 2025. October is my favorite month of the year, and it always flies by in the blink of an eye. It’s the month where I can really lean into my love of scary movies and the macabre. I feel so justified in my ways all 31 days. But as I speak of October flying by, it did again this year, which is why I’m posting this on November 2.

I’m a lover of all things spooky, but honestly, I really love vampires. It was probably from reading all of those YA vampire books over 15 years ago, but the love certainly stuck its teeth into me and hasn’t let go. I wanted to focus on vampire movies that I personally haven’t seen before for October this year. Some are classics that I really needed to cross off the list, and others are ones I hadn’t even heard of before this pursuit. A mix of old and new, fantastical and grounded.

I landed on 10 this year, even though I had the goal of 20. With so many scary movies to watch, I had a hard time limiting myself to just vampire flicks.

I’m grateful to add these to my watched list, more vampire lore for my brain to hold and cherish. Here’s my breakdown of new and old vampire lore from these 10 movies, plus my very loose and based-on-little rating out of 5 Bats for each.

Fright Night (1985): 80’s Horror

Plot: "Fright Night" sees a teenager believing that the newcomer in his neighborhood is a vampire. He turns to an actor in a television hosted horror movie show for help to deal with the undead.

  1. Classic Features: Fangs, turns into a bat, needs to be invited inside, no reflection. Sleeps in a coffin, can’t go out during the day. Seductive and compelling, definitely my favorite vamp feature.

  2. How to kill them: Stakes, baby! But it’s slow and painful, no bursting into flames. Crosses are also key in this movie, definitely the best way to keep the vamps at bay.

  3. Anything Unique: It’s a true vampire movie, so not much that stands out. Maybe the long, creepy nails, but that's still classic vampire. I like that you need real faith for the cross to work on the master (I’d be screwed). The vampire minion (Evil Ed lol) can turn into a wolf, neat!

  4. General Notes: Nothing beats practical effects in the end, true horror and rubber!

Hilarious Line from the TV-Vampire Slayer: "So far, everything has been like it is in movies." My guy? That’s not something you want to rely on.

  5. Rating: 🦇🦇🦇.5 (3.5 bats out of 5) Fun vampire flick, would recommend for an early October watch.

Byzantium (2012): Dark Drama

Plot: Mayhem follows when two female vampires who are on the run from a kindred group take refuge at a seaside British community.

  1. Tone: Soft and romantic, serious. Focused on two female vampires, a mother and daughter. This is much more of a vampire drama, bleak & grounded. There's romance: the main girl (Saoirse Ronan) picks up a small romance with a guy who has leukemia. There's conflict: They're being chased by the secret vampire society of men. There's social commentary: The “mother” relies on prostitution & running a brothel to make money and hasn’t been able to create a stable life for them over centuries.

  2. Classic Features: They must be invited inside. Sunlight and religious symbols don’t affect them. They act mostly human, offering a grounded take on vampirism.

  3. Unique Traits: Their feeding is unglamorous and realistic, using a sharp retractable thumbnail to draw blood.

They have powerful memories that make them melancholic; I'd imagine it's hard to live forever if you remember everything.

There’s a secret society of vampires made up only of men. To join, you have to travel to a remote island and basically surrender to death. It’s a pretty fascinating & unique piece of lore.

  4. Rating: 🦇🦇🦇🦇 (4 out of 5) - A bit of a different one, still very good. I really enjoyed the visuals!

Daybreakers (2009): Thriller/Adventure

Plot: In the year 2019*, a plague has transformed almost every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.

*Side note: Now in 2025, 2019 used to feel like a futuristic year. Hard for me to wrap my head around sometimes!

  1. Classic Features: No sunlight or they shrivel up and die. No reflection. Immortality is both yes and no; they need blood. But they lose their humanity without it, and some even grow bat-like wings with really freakish fangs. For society to continue to run, they need that blood.

  2. How to Kill Them: Beheading works well. Sunlight is a go-to.

  3. Anything Unique: It’s an interesting idea, a vampire-run world where humans are a rarity and mainly needed for blood. It does feel like it would play out this way; humans would resist and force themselves into hiding. Nothing beats the feeling of sunlight on our skin. Glowing eyes, becoming more of a go-to feature for vampires. Those sunlight-resistant cars - I'm not all that sure about that technology.

  4. 🦇🦇🦇🦇.5 - Great movie, great cast. Fun concept and well executed.

John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998): Classic 90's Horror

Plot: Recovering from an ambush that killed his entire team, a vengeful vampire slayer must retrieve an ancient Catholic relic that, should it be acquired by vampires, will allow them to walk in sunlight.

  1. Classic Features: Classic sun and stakes vampires. It’s clear from the first scene that guns don’t do anything to them. Silver might be a factor. Not enough of these movies include the “need to be invited inside,” which is always a great detail.

  2. How to Kill Them: Stakes and sunlight are the main methods.

  3. Anything Unique: Everyone is linked to the main head vampire, and Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) can see what the master vampire sees through a psychic link. It’s a pure vampire movie with no frills: priests, badass slayers, and gothic vibes. When all the masters rise out of the sand, it’s pretty cool. The black cross is sick too.

  4. 🦇🦇🦇.5 - 3.5 out of 5, Fun for an October watch if you want to hit the classics!

Once Bitten (1985): 80’s Horny Comedy

Plot: A vampire Countess needs to drink the blood of a virgin in order to keep her eternal beauty. It seems that all is hopeless, until she bumps into Mark Kendall. “I can’t believe I let a woman into my bedroom! And she’s a vampire!”

  1. Classic Features: No reflection, sleeps in a coffin during the day, drinks blood, and communicates through dreams (Hello Nosferatu lol).

  2. How to Kill Them: Not clearly shown, but losing your virginity undoes the transition into vampire (lol!)

  3. Anything Unique: Drinking virgin blood three times before Halloween to remain immortal, that is a new one. The vampire woman lives the most glamorous 80s life with a white coffin, rich and elegant style, and a butler serving her blood in a rocks glass.

  4. General Notes: Aw, Jim Carrey is so insanely young. This is a super horny 80s movie using vampires as a vehicle for that energy. The leading guy and his friends are desperate to lose their virginity, and they look every bit the part when they go out to the club. The choreographed dance scene is great; if you watch anything from this movie, make it that scene.

  5. Rating: 🦇 - 1 bat because the dance scene was pretty fun.

Blade (1998): Dark Hero

Plot: A half-mortal, half-immortal is out to avenge his mother's death and rid the world of vampires. The modern-day technologically advanced vampires he is going after are in search of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race.

  1. Classic Features: Vampirism is a biological condition. No reflection in mirrors. Sunlight is deadly.

  2. How to Kill Them: Sunlight is no-good, Garlic acts as a cure for vampirism if you’re bitten. Silver is deadly too. Crosses and holy water mean nothing to these vamps!

  3. Anything Unique: Vampires are immortal, with some born as pure bloods and others turned. The original vampires dominate over the rest. Blade is a half-vampire, thus why he's so important & can walk around during the day.

  4. 🦇🦇🦇🦇 - 4 bats for the classic!

Stake Land (2010): Coming-of-Age Apocalypse

Plot: After a plague turns America into a realm of vampires, a hunter (Nick Damici) of the depraved creatures travels cross-country with an orphan (Connor Paolo) he rescued, searching for a safe haven.

  1. Classic Features: Fangs, drinking blood, and a world overrun by vampires in a zombie apocalypse setting.

  2. How to Kill Them: Typical staking or combat methods seem to work.

  3. Anything Unique: No coffins. Garlic isn’t addressed. Sunlight doesn’t seem to be an issue, and the vampires don’t appear to be immortal.

  4. Rating: Not a lot doing on, but a pretty solid movie. 🦇🦇🦇

Vampyres (1974): Horror

Plot: A pair of women lure passers-by to their countryside mansion to feed on them to satisfy their need for blood.

  1. Opening Shock (!): The movie wastes absolutely no time setting the tone. Within the first minute, there is full nudity and a bloody murder, with no music or buildup, just immediate chaos and sensual violence. It is jarring, but vibe-y.

  2. Classic Features: They have no issues with daylight, can drink wine normally, and show no obvious supernatural abilities.

  3. Anything Unique: A strange detail stands out: the victims’ watches always stop after their encounters. It is never explained, but it adds a subtle and eerie touch to the vampire's lore!

  4. General Notes: Meanwhile, a side plot features a very annoying boyfriend who constantly gaslights his girlfriend. She clearly sees the two vampires, but he dismisses her constantly. He should really be paying more attention, since the vampires are right there!

  5. Rating: 🦇🦇🦇 Sexy fun! Not for the family!

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996): Crime Thriller / Horror

Plot: Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires, with chaotic results.

  1. Classic Features: Stakes and crosses: anti-cross, stakes work too. They look human until they are provoked or see some blerrrd. Once provoked, the vamps are very demonic looking with bat wings, warped faces, the whole lot. Very classic depictions of evil.

  2. Anything Unique: Pretty much a crime or heist movie until halfway through (classic Clooney). Any movie that subverts your expectations is such a blast.

  3. General Notes: Tarantino didn’t need to be in this movie, could’ve just written the script, But he brings in a certain weird energy that maybe the film needs. I love the end so much. Vampires don’t exist. But I have two fucking eyes, so clearly they do.” Real talk.

  4. Just an all-around entertaining movie: 🦇🦇🦇🦇

The Lost Boys (1987): 80's Horror

Plot: When a recently divorced mother and her two teenage boys move to a coastal town to stay with her father, it doesn't take long for the brothers to realize the area is a haven for something much more sinister than party-going surfers.

  1. Classic Features: No sunlight, need blood to survive, need to be invited inside, head vampire runs the show. Crosses and holy water certainly cause harm, but do not affect the head vampire. They are half-vampires until they make their first kill. Modern, youthful aesthetic, deviating from traditional gothic vampires by being a biker gang.

  2. Anything Unique: Vibes alone, this movie stands out. Just the best of 80's hair metal bikers mashed with the beach, carnival, boardwalk, summer, teen nights, and whimsy goth.

  3. General Notes: Easily the coolest vampire lair across all movies and TV, a sunken beach hotel. Cool af. I do not think I would want to be this version of vampire, not fun enough.

This movie spurred the iconic scene that What We Do in the Shadows mocks: “Maggots, Michael. You’re eating maggots. How do they taste?”

  4. 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇 5 Bats because I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

Is it good? No! Is it fun? Absolutely yes.

An Extra Note from Liz: I just have to give a shout out to the new 2025 vampire movie, Sinners. I saw it in theaters earlier this year and it felt so fresh, totally an original story but still with that classic vampire lore we all love. I am always excited for new stories, new faces, and of course, VAMPIRES. When they broke out the garlic, I pretty much cheered out loud. Big thanks to writer and director Ryan Coogler for bringing this awesome vampire movie to the masses!
